</u>Apply:</b> <a href="http://odge.mit.edu/community/gcf/">http://odge.mit.edu/community/gcf/</a><br><br>The “Programs for Women” Graduate Community Fellow supports graduate student programs and events for women by working closely with, and reporting to, the Senior Associate Dean for Graduate Education. The appointment period will begin in June and continue through May 31. <br>
<br>The work includes the following: <br>-Plan, implement, and evaluate programs and events that promote the professional and leadership development of graduate women students <br>-Assist in creation and stewardship of opportunities for graduate women to build and broaden networks of support to enhance the graduate experience <br>
-Assist in designing and implementing approaches to assess and document the success of programmatic efforts <br>-Interact with departments, administrative offices, and student groups with which the ODGE partners or whose activities the ODGE funds <br>

I take your card, you take my card, and then we don’t call each other. This workshop is designed to reintroduce you to how strong professional relationships can be necessary for most people to succeed in their careers. It will provide practical tools for meeting people and for nurturing new and established connections <br>
<br>Dr. Joanne Kamens received her PhD in Genetics from Harvard Medical School and then spent 15 years at BASF/Abbott, where she led discovery research projects on small molecule and antibody approaches to inflammatory diseases, ultimately serving as Group Leader in Molecular Biology. In 2011, Dr. Kamens became the Executive Director of Addgene, a mission driven, non-profit dedicated to helping scientists around the world collaborate. Dr. Kamens founded the current Boston chapter of AWIS. In 2013, she was elected as a fellow to the Massachusetts Academy of Science for service to science and the community.<br>

<br>Are you a leader? Are you passionate about women in science? The Scientista Foundation is looking for Regional Officers this summer (2013) that will create vibrant communities for women in science in your region.<br>
<br>
As a regional officer, you will be responsible for mobilizing your city/region! That means planning a minimum of 1 event per month in your area and advertising your events through the Scientista regional lists, the Scientista Facebook pages, and Scientista university networks, etc. Events can be social (meetup at a resturant/bar) or educational (panel events with speakers). <br>
<br>Some additional roles include: <br>- Marketing your Scientista events and getting the word out <br>- Planning the logistics of your events and serving as the host <br>- Working with a fab team of energetic and exciting Scientistas! (You'll work with the co-founders and the national RO team, as well as any other ROs who signed up in your region.) <br>

Our goal is to help scientists and engineers become more productive by teaching them basic computing skills like program design, version control, testing, and task automation. In this two-day boot camp, short tutorials will alternate with hands-on practical exercises. Participants will be encouraged both to help one another, and to apply what they have learned to their own research problems during and between sessions. There will be online follow up sessions for 6 to 8 weeks extending the material from the boot camp.<br>
<br>This boot camp is open to female graduate students, post-docs, faculty members, staff scientists, or their equivalent in science, engineering, medicine, or a related field in academia, industry, or the public and non-profit sectors. Participants should have some prior experience with basic programming.<br>

This July we will be holding Summer Science Week at Lasell College from July 9th - July 12th. Summer Science Week is an opportunity for girls all over the greater Boston area to participate in free STEM programming. <br>
<br>During the day, they work with volunteers who teach STEM curricula, and during the afternoon, the girls go on field trips related to what they've been learning. We are hoping you can volunteers as a Science Teacher in the morning or a Field Trip Chaperone in the afternoon for Summer Science Week. You can volunteer for multiple positions on multiple days, or just one position for one day during the week. <br>The New York Academy of Sciences, in partnership with the U.S. Department of State and a consortium of over 30 U.S. women's colleges, has launched the 2nd year of the NeXXt Scholars Program. This Program aims to engage and advance American women and women from countries with predominantly Muslim populations to pursue undergraduate degrees in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) academic fields.<br>
<br>In order to accomplish this goal, the Academy will provide partnership, mentorship, and networking support for these scholars, by way of a STEM Fellow. The deadline for mentor applications is Monday, July 15th. We’re looking for female STEM professionals, graduate-level students, and postdocs who have a desire to help the next generation of women break into STEM-related fields.
