<br>The Clothesline Project was started in Cape Cod, MA in order to provide a visual display of the prevalence and severity of violence against women. Since its inception, it has been used around the state, and groups across the country have started their own version of the Clothesline Project.<br>
<br>The MIT Clothesline Project allows us to display shirts created by the MIT community, including survivors, those who know survivors, or those who wish to help end sexual violence at our tables throughout the month. Shirt designs vary widely and can be brief stories of sexual violence, reactions to sexual assault by survivors or others, or calls to end sexual violence (or anything you might think of!); we just ask that no identifying information is included on any of the shirts. The community involvement and individual creativity around the issue of sexual violence is really at the core of what makes this project so great. Supplies are provided. Stop by to make a shirt!<br>

<br>The borders and boundaries where political, ethnic, religious, racial, national, and other factions meet are hotbeds for ideological and psychological tensions that affect marginalized gender and sexual identities. Within these "clash zones," anything from eruptive transformations (revolutions) to gradual modifications (evolutions) might occur. <br>
<br>This interdisciplinary Women's and Gender studies conference will investigate how frictions produced in these "clash zones" impact individual and communal bodies and alter the identity categories by which we define those bodies. Conference is free and open to the public.<br>

Project Unbreakable was created in October of 2011 by Grace Brown. Grace works with survivors of sexual assault, photographing them holding a poster with a quote from their attacker. Grace has photographed over four hundred people and has received over a thousand submissions. TIME magazine has also named it one of the top 30 Tumblr blogs to follow.<br>
<br>Grace will not be taking photos at MIT this year, but there will be a photo exhibition on display April 11th from 9am – 5pm in the Stata Balconies followed by a reception from 5pm – 6pm. The evening will end with the story-sharing and witnessing of Take Back the Night starting at 6pm.<br>

<br>It’s the close of World War II – the dawn of the atomic age. The Allies have captured Germany’s top ten nuclear scientists and sequestered them at Farm Hall– a lavish estate in England – keeping them under surveillance to learn what they know about the American nuclear program and to gauge how close the Nazis are to making an atomic bomb. Nine of these men, including Nobel Prize winners Otto Hahn and Werner Heisenberg, are known as Hitler’s “Uranium Club.” Based on actual transcripts of secretly recorded conversations, playwright Alan Brody illuminates the ethical complexity of pursuing scientific discovery at the risk of wreaking catastrophic consequences. <br>

<br>Shahnaz Husain's revolutionary business model and marketing approach is well-known throughout Asia. On April 24th, Shahnaz Husain will be at MIT to share the experiences and views of a female entrepreneur who has seen the growth of entrepreneurship in India, the increased role of female entrepreneurs, and the changing opportunities for people living at the bottom of the pyramid. <br>
<br>While creating commercial success, Ms. Husain faced and overcame obstacles commonly encountered by female entrepreneurs working in low-income countries - experiences that provide her with a wealth of advice for female entrepreneurs. And in creating her business model, Ms. Husain offered employment opportunities to thousands of women who, for the first time, experienced the benefits of earning a wage. The empowerment of these women demonstrates the broad-based and positive impact of innovative entrepreneurship.<br>

<br>Social and developmental psychologist and author Lynn Phillips explores the line between consent and coercion in this thought-provoking look at popular culture and the ways real girls and women navigate their heterosexual relationships and hookups. <br>
<br>Featuring dramatizations of interviews that Phillips conducted with hundreds of young women, the film examines how the wider culture’s frequently contradictory messages about pleasure, danger, agency, and victimization enter into women’s most intimate relationships with men. The result is a refreshingly candid, and nuanced, look at how young women are forced to grapple with deeply ambivalent cultural attitudes about female sexuality.<br>

<br>Gripping and emotional, this film is an opportunity to empathize with people—not just absorb faceless statistics—and to puncture the silence and denial that allow sexual assault to thrive. Ultimately, these stories shed light on how this epidemic affects us all.<br>
