Bhaskar has worked internationally as a senior executive for companies such as Turner Broadcasting/CNN (in India), Sony Corporation (in New Jersey) and the Educational Testing Service (in Singapore). He has devoted his career to the development of "global people skills" among working professionals,and recently taught a graduate management course titled "Intercultural Communication in the Global Workplace" at Harvard University's Extension School. Bhaskar has a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Rochester and a Master’s degree in Communications from Indiana University.
His seminar "The Impact of Culture in Multicultural Research Teams" will provide a framework for understanding cultural differences among professionals from different parts of the world, and ways of maximizing effectiveness in communication and productivity when working in multicultural team settings.</span></div>

This full-day symposium will introduce graduate students and postdoctoral </span><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif">fellows to a wide range of careers in the field of science policy. Attendees will leave </span><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif">the symposium with a better understanding of how to transition from scientific research </span><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif">to policy work and of opportunities for science policy internships, fellowships and careers </span><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif">in government, non-profits and the private sector. Sessions will be held in the morning </span><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif">at Harvard Medical School and in the afternoon at Harvard’s Cambridge campus. I am looking for women doctoral students enrolled full-time in their second, third, fourth, or fifth year or beyond of doctoral study in the School of Engineering at MIT. The nature of your participation in this study would require 3 1-hour individual interviews with me, and a 1-hour focus group with other Engineering women at MIT facilitated by me.</font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><font face="arial, helvetica, sans-serif"><br></font></p><p class="MsoNormal"><font face="arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Women who participate in my research study will be compensated <b>$75 in</b> <b>Gift Cards </b>for the interviews <b>and a free lunch or dinner</b> while participating in the focus group. The interviews and focus group are scheduled to take place between May and August 2012 at MIT. With the exception of the first interview which must be in-person, these interviews can be conducted using video-conferencing (e.g. Skype) if you will not be on-campus at MIT during these months.</font></p>
