About D.E. Shaw Research:
D. E. Shaw Research (DESRES)<https://www.deshawresearch.com/> is a New York–based independent research laboratory that conducts scientific research in the field of computational biochemistry.  Our group is currently focusing primarily on long molecular dynamics (MD) simulations involving proteins and other biological macromolecules of potential interest from both a scientific and a pharmaceutical perspective.  An integral part of our effort consists of designing and developing custom hardware and software to carry out this research.  We are also pursuing drug discovery programs, leveraging the insights enabled by our novel technologies to focus on drug targets that span a range of therapeutic areas.  Our team includes computational chemists and biologists, computer scientists and applied mathematicians, and computer architects and engineers, all working collaboratively within a tightly coupled interdisciplinary research environment under the leadership of our chief scientist David Shaw.

Have you ever wanted to work on an ambulance? To help others in an emergency? To make a difference in your community? Consider applying for MIT EMS’ free EMT certification class over IAP!
MIT EMS is a student-founded and completely student-run volunteer ambulance service that provides emergency medical care and transport to MIT’s campus as well as surrounding Cambridge and Boston Communities. Our ambulance is fully staffed by Massachusetts-licensed, nationally-certified EMT-Bs, and is available 24/7 to respond to medical emergencies.


If you are interested in joining our ranks, we hold an EMT-B certification class every IAP that is of no cost to accepted students! Our applications for this year’s class cycle are currently open and will close on October 22 at 11:59pm. About the internship:

The Special Events team at Boston Children’s Hospital Trust ,the fundraising arm of Boston Children’s Hospital, is looking to fill an intern position for the spring of 2022. The position will be unpaid and must be used for school credit. The position will assist the team over the course of a semester for two days per week, as a mix of remote and in-person work.

We are looking for an intern who is a highly self-motivated individual with a great attitude who is looking to contribute to the growth of our fundraising programs.

This intern will contribute to the planning and execution of our events as well as helping us drive our fundraising efforts. To thrive in this role, you will need to be able to work well independently while having strong communication skills - both verbally and written, and be an organized forward-thinker. The right candidate will be very creative and is willing to bring his or her creativity and ideas to the table.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting with:

  *   Planning and promotion of special events, programs and campaigns
  *   Research prospective programs and events
  *   Support of third-party fundraisers
  *   Database management and entries
  *   Inventory and event material management
  *   Fulfillment of fundraising materials
  *   Execute high volume of outbound calls to event participants throughout entire event season
  *   Management of event Facebook page including:
     *   Outreach to event participants
     *   Data pulls for recognition posts
     *   Mining fundraising pages for possible post ideas

Qualifications:

  *   Excellent written and oral communication skills
  *   Ability to manage deadlines for multiple projects
  *   Self-reliant with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  *   Clearly demonstrates problem solving skills
  *   Comfortable speaking on the phone with donors
