  1.  Attend the next MIT Reads and meet the authors of “Sexual Citizens”
This season’s MIT Reads selection is Sexual Citizens: Sex, Power, and Assault on Campus<https://mit.us6.list-manage.com/track/click?u=9021ea6c03&id=c94d1b6ccb&e=daf2eb02a0> by Jennifer S. Hirsch and Shamus Khan. Called “profoundly eye-opening” by Science and acclaimed by National Public Radio as “the book to read to help lead conversations about sex,” Sexual Citizens proposes a new model for understanding the dynamics of sexual relationships in academic communities and a new roadmap for addressing sexual assault.
Authors Hirsch and Khan, in dialog with student moderators representing the Undergraduate Association’s Student Support and Wellness Committee and the Graduate Student Council, will be joining us on October 4 from 7:30 to 9pm. The Office of Multicultural Programs (OMP) is hosting a Graduate Student Mixer on Friday, October 8th from 3-4:30pm at the SPXCE office in W31-110. There will be some small bites provided by a local minority-owned business, as well as great conversation, prizes, and more!

Have you ever wanted to work on an ambulance? To help others in an emergency? To make a difference in your community? Consider applying for MIT EMS’ free EMT certification class over IAP!
MIT EMS is a student-founded and completely student-run volunteer ambulance service that provides emergency medical care and transport to MIT’s campus as well as surrounding Cambridge and Boston Communities. Our ambulance is fully staffed by Massachusetts-licensed, nationally-certified EMT-Bs, and is available 24/7 to respond to medical emergencies.


If you are interested in joining our ranks, we hold an EMT-B certification class every IAP that is of no cost to accepted students! Our applications for this year’s class cycle are currently open and will close on October 22 at 11:59pm. We invite you to attend some of our info sessions to learn more about who we are and what we do! Our next info session will be on Wednesday, October 6, 7p-8p in 5-134.
