*3. [UA and VPR] Get Involved with the Red Flag Campaign**When*: Now!

This October, during Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the UA in
collaboration with Violence Prevention and Response is bringing the Red
Flag Campaign <http://www.theredflagcampaign.org/> to campus to raise
awareness of intimate partner violence (encompassing physical, sexual,
and/or psychological harm), abusive relationship warning signs, and
existing support resources.

Given that females between the ages of 18 and 24 and 25 to 34 experience
the highest rate http://www.thehotline.org/resources/statistics/ of
inter-partner violence (IPV), we would like to target this campaign towards
both the undergraduate and graduate student populations.

Though we have undergraduates involved, *we are in search of a graduate
student* who would like to help bring the campaign to life for the graduate
student population on campus. This is a reasonable time commitment and
involves contributing to graduate logistics, most specifically with regard
to targeted marketing and publicity.

The TIX Student Advisory Committee will be a group of students who can
provide feedback and input to the Title IX Office regarding our messaging
and outreach campaigns, and help us most effectively engage with the
student body around issues of gender equity.

The time commitment will be one to two meetings a month in the evening, at
which dinner will be provided. The meetings will be between one and two
hours, and the time and date of meetings will depend on student
availability.

Are you considering a career in academia?  Are you seeking a position in
the next couple of years and concerned about navigating the application and
tenure process?

The Office of the Dean for Graduate Education is pleased to announce the
opening of this year’s application to our Path of Professorship workshop.
This workshop is designed to provide graduate and post-doctoral women with
information about academic careers in science and engineering fields and
the application process.  Each year we are able to gather a wonderful group
of female professors from MIT and beyond to talk about their experiences in
academia.

This year is no different, and we are expecting an exciting and informative
weekend. Path of Professorship will run from Friday, November 20th at 1:00
PM through Saturday, November 21st at 6:30 PM, and cover topics ranging
from "Finding the Time to Do it All" to “What Institution is Right for
You?” and “The Tenure Process.”

The Graduate Student Life Grants program is a request-for-proposal process
 inviting graduate students, spouses, faculty, or staff to submit creative,
community building ideas for possible funding.

We encourage you to apply for funds - especially in collaboration with
other students or student groups. Proposals may address a specific
community such as families, residents of a particular dorm, a particular
department, or a cultural community; they may cross departments or focus
within a discipline. The purpose should be to create a more vibrant and
fulfilling graduate life experience.

Previous successful grants include Weekly Wednesdays at the Muddy Charles,
Teaching MIT to Code and Collaborate, Science Policy Bootcamp, Ballroom
Dance Workshop, Skydive Saturday, and many others (please see our web site).

The application deadline is Friday, October 16, 2015.  Proposals will be
reviewed by the selection panel, authors could be asked clarifying
questions; funds for approved proposals will be released in early December
2015.

The National Research Mentoring Network to Diversify the Biomedical
Workforce (NRMN**), headquartered at Boston College, invites you to a forum
where outstanding leaders who have led innovative initiatives to address
this issue on their campuses for undergraduates, graduate students,
postdoctoral fellows and faculty, will discuss their programs. This
presentation will allow for an open discussion on the best practices and
how you might implement change at your institution to create a more
inclusive environment. Participate in our panel discussion about the
challenges and opportunities of diversifying the science workforce, and

research study to evaluate a new vaginally-inserted temperature monitor.

and user experience of the device and evaluate how well the device works
