Interested in being more involved in GWAMIT? Have you attended or helped plan a past GWAMIT activity, and would you like to become a member of the Executive Board? Apply now for a GWAMIT Executive Board position for the 2014 term, from January to December 2014!

GWAMIT is currently recruiting conference co-chairs, event leads, and committee members for the annual Spring Empowerment Conference to be held in March 2014. This is a great opportunity to be a part of the 2014 organizing team!

4. [ODGE] Womensphere Emerging Leaders Summit (Applications due Tues. Dec. 10)

The main purpose of this Womensphere Foundation Summit is to convene the next generation of women leaders and innovators, to invest in advancing their leadership and innovation capabilities, and to enable them to build connections with resources, experts, potential mentors, and with each other.
 
In the fifth year of hosting this Summit, the Womensphere Foundation brings together emerging women leaders, innovators, scientists, creators, academic leaders, lawyers, policy analysts, entrepreneurs, and social entrepreneurs to expand opportunities, create community, build connections, and inspire collaborations that create the future.
 
 
5. Women’s League Community Craft Fair (Thurs. Dec. 12 – Fri. Dec. 13)

You may just find the perfect gift for a relative or friend! Knitted scarves, hand-made cards, jewelry of all types, specialty gifts and more, may be found for sale at the annual Holiday Craft Fair sponsored by the MIT Women's League Community Crafters.
 
If you are a crafter and would like to sell your creations at the fair, log on to the Women's League website at web.mit.edu/womensleague and go to 'Get Involved,' then to 'Community Craft Fairs,' and then to 'Application.' Under 'Community Craft Fairs,' you will also find a link to the 'Community Craft Fairs Policy.' All applications will be reviewed by the MIT Women's League Craft Fair Committee, appointed by the MIT Women's League Executive Board.

6. Making a Living in Science Outreach: A Career Panel (Mon. Dec. 9, 3:30-5pm)

Are you motivated to inspire kids and adults with the wonder of science? Do you recognize the importance of the public's appreciation of science in order to continue funding basic and applied research? Are you curious what a career trajectory in science outreach looks like for PhD scientists?
 
While there are myriad ways for PhD-level scientists to perform science outreach as volunteers, finding a full-time job bringing quality science to the broader community is not easy. Come to this panel to learn from scientists who have turned their love of science into a career in making and improving science outreach opportunities.
