Speaker: Sarah Cardozo Duncan (Career Strategist)

In an economic downturn, some people do better than others at
navigating the job market. The winners usually have something in
common: They find innovative ways to stand out, carefully construct a
plan for success, and take advantage of the value of networking.

We will discuss how to:

- Craft a compelling value proposition

- Create an effective marketing plan

- Develop a workable networking plan

- Land and conduct informational interviews

Sarah Cardozo Duncan, based in Boston, Massachusetts, is a career
strategist with an established national and international client base.
Sarah runs her own consulting firm, Career Strategist, and draws upon
over twenty years of recruitment and career development experience to
help clients define new or existing career paths, or to help them
navigate successfully in their current companies. She previously
served as president of the Alliance, an umbrella group of women's
associations that collectively claim about 13,000 members in greater
Boston. In 2003, Sarah was recognized by Boston Magazine as one of the
100 most powerful women in Boston.

Sarah is an accomplished and highly regarded speaker and workshop
leader. She conducts hands-on training and workshops for companies,
trade organizations, and associations, who want to help their teams
develop individual value propositions, navigate internal career
building paths, communicate better up, down and with different styles,
and deal with uncomfortable conversations, including negotiations.

working through work / life balance choices.

About the Founders Lunch Series:
MIT and the surrounding area is one of the most successful ecosystems
for entrepreneurship in the world, but women are consistently

In making career and life decisions, MIT graduate students rarely have

This session provides an opportunity to discuss making work and life,
service and career choices to find balance and fulfillment. MIT Alumna
Katherine Bicer (MSc, Course 3) and Sue Jones (founder of yogaHope)
will speak about finding balance in their lives and careers by
pursuing their passions.

Katherine Bicer will speak about her path towards balance from her
time as a graduate student at MIT where she first discovered yoga as a
tool in her own life to her experiences working at GE and serving as a
board member of yogaHope, an organization dedicated to bringing
rehabilitative yoga programs to substance abuse rehabilitation
centers, domestic abuse safe houses and homeless shelters for women,
located in and around the Boston Metro area. Katherine will introduce
Sue Jones. An inspirational speaker, Sue is the entrepreneurial
