4. The Women and Entrepreneurship Series, brought to you by SWIM and
the MIT E-Center
3 informal lunches with successful female entrepreneurs * 1 SIP
workshop * 1 networking reception with MIT graduate women and members
of the Boston-area entrepreneurship and VC communities!
First Event: Lunch with Bettina Hein, SM ’07 -- Founder and CEO,
Pixability (lunch will be provided)
When: Tuesday, February 16, 11:45am-1pm
Where: E51-393
Topic: Getting Started – finding the idea and the team with a focus on
refining the innovation and the business models and looking for early
sources of funding.
Speaker Bio: Bettina Hein, SM ’07 – Founder and CEO, Pixability.
Bettina founded Pixability to help entrepreneurs and small businesses
tell their story with video and win more customers in the process.
Bettina also co-founded Swiss-based speech technology specialist SVOX
AG and led the venture-backed software company to profitability. In
1996, Bettina was the initiator of the START (http://startglobal.org),
which encourages entrepreneurship among university students.
About the Founder Lunch Series:
The aim of the Founders Lunch Series is to bring in one founder for
Tuesdays from 11:45am-1pm to sit down with a small group of students
and share their experiences as an entrepreneur in an informal and
intimate setting; the discussion is meant to be interactive –
questions are definitely welcome! It is also a great chance to network
with the entrepreneurs as well as to meet classmates with similar
interests.
This is a speaker series to allow the women’s community at MIT,
especially graduate women, to hear first hand about the process and
experience of starting, funding, and growing a business. MIT and the
surrounding area is one of the most successful ecosytems for
entrepreneurship in the world, but women are consistently
underrepresented, as they are around the country; this series will
provide some role models and connections.
