<p dir="ltr">We were informed by Jag Patel from the Chancellor's office that the title "housemaster" will be changed due to it having connotations to slavery and racial injustice. This is also inline with Harvard's policy (<a href="http://news.harvard.edu/gazette/story/2015/12/qa-on-changing-house-master-title/" target="_blank">http://news.harvard.edu/gazette/story/2015/12/qa-on-changing-house-master-title/</a>)</p>
<p dir="ltr">Their preferred replacement option is "House of Head." If there is no opposition to this, then this will be the new title.</p>
<p dir="ltr">Other less supported titles are "House Mentor" and "House Dean" (not supported by faculty because many housemasters don't hold academic positions).</p>
<p dir="ltr">Does anyone have any questions or concerns regarding this? In particularly could you please converse with your housemaster to see if they have any input? Also, if you have a different suggestion, we would love to hear it. Jag needs a response by this Sunday, so please let us know before then.</p><p dir="ltr"><br></p><p>Thank you,</p><p dir="ltr">
