The last event with be another Cultural Identity Dinner, on May 3rd (Thursday). In light of comments from last time, we will have mixed groups of people for the discussions, but we still need to discuss a lead topic or questions. We will also make it shorter- we can have a short intro and conclusion period- since at the end of the year many people may be tense. I'm going to check the level of funding, and assuming we have sufficient money left (I think we will), we can also do an informal social afterwards in the Muddy Charles and we will buy some pitchers. I know this is a busy time for everyone, but if we all do a small piece, we can make sure that we have a great final event for this year. If we can all choose a part to take on, we shouldn't have to have more than one pre-meeting. Can everyone email back with the part they would like to help with: Food: Poster and handouts (we can use same design as last time): Planning small groups and facilitation: Room set-up and clean-up: Outreach to student groups: I'll set up the rooms now- thanks for everyone's involvement, Liz Master of City Planning Candidate, 2007 Department of Urban Studies and Planning Co-Chair, Diversity Committee, GSC Massachusetts Institute of Technology 617.699.1514 (Mobile) From eclay at MIT.EDU Tue Apr 10 11:53:51 2007 From: eclay at MIT.EDU (Elizabeth Margarette Clay) Date: Tue, 10 Apr 2007 11:53:51 -0400 Subject: [GSC-Diversity-All] Final event Message-ID: <20070410115351.rvf4mh51h000w80k@webmail.mit.edu> Hi everyone, We had discussed holding a final event on May 3rd- but I have only heard back from Natalija and Abigail about how they can help. I am also willing to contribute time, but the three of us alone cannot do it. If others think holding another cultural diversity dinner (an event that people loved!) then please let me know today if you can spare a few hours to make this event a reality (help is still needed for making and posting flyers, outreach to other organizations and working at the event). Thanks! In case people are interested in that, it might be a good idea to start participating in their meetings (see the forward below) ----- End forwarded message ----- Dear ARC, We will be holding our monthly meeting next Thursday at 5.30PM in 50-220. We will be introducing our new ARC chairs and showing our appreciation to outgoing project chairs. Please RSVP so that we know how much food to order. Natalija, Abigail and I talked about holding smaller discussion events this summer. Anyway, on May 3rd, there is another event that the Diversity Committee has helped fund, the Alumni of Color Dinner Series. This will be one of the best sessions yet, so I encourage you all to participate! Best, Liz ----- Forwarded message from jainey at MIT.EDU ----- Date: Sun, 29 Apr 2007 06:57:25 -0400 From: "Jainey K.
