1. <u>Student Health Insurance Rates for 2004-05 announced:<br><br>
</u>The Student Health Insurance rates for 2004-2005 have been announced
and are as follows:
<ul>
<li><b>Single Student:</b> $1,440 (unchanged)
<li><b>Student & Partner:</b> $3,000 (40% decrease)
<li><b>Student & Children:</b> $2,000 (26% decrease)
<li><b>Student, Partner, & Children:</b> $4,350 (30% decrease)
</ul>For supported students, these premiums will be subsidized by an
amount equivalent to a single student plan ($1,440). We are especially
pleased to see that the MIT Administration and MIT Medical have taken the
needs and concerns of students with families into account with
significantly lower rates for 2004-2005. More information is available on
the GSC Insurance Advocacy page at

2. <u>GSC Nominations<br><br>
</u>The GSC Nominations Committee is looking for a few dozen good
graduate students! The Nominations Committee
(<a href="http://web.mit.edu/gsc/www/about/committees/nom.shtml" eudora="autourl">http://web.mit.edu/gsc/www/about/committees/nom.shtml</a>)
is charged with recruiting and selecting students to serve on the many
Institute Committees, as well as other bodies involved in the
administration of Institute services. These committees are responsible
for many of the decisions that affect the way MIT operates on a day to
day basis, and provide a very important opportunity for graduate students
to provide input and feedback. The Nominations Committee is chaired
by the GSC Vice President, and consists of members of the GSC and the
general graduate community.<br><br>
The list of Institute Committees with graduate student representation may
be found on the GSC website at
<a href="http://web.mit.edu/gsc/www/about/reps/institutereps/" eudora="autourl">http://web.mit.edu/gsc/www/about/reps/institutereps/</a>,
other positions are regularly found in our "Get Involved"
section at
<a href="http://web.mit.edu/gsc/www/about/getinvolved/details.shtml" eudora="autourl">http://web.mit.edu/gsc/www/about/getinvolved/details.shtml</a>.

above) to the GSC Vice President (via gsc-vice-president[at]mit[dot]edu),
