We’re starting to see returning students at school, so I know it’s only going
to be a few days before the flood gates open.</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0in 0in 0.0001pt;font-size:12pt;font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Here is the promised, more detailed bulletin about the
upcoming MIT Great Glass Pumpkin Patch. </span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0in 0in 0.0001pt;font-size:12pt;font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Like last year, we are going to have two simultaneous pumpkin sales
this fall, one online and the other in-person on Kresge Oval. The day of both
sales will be <b>Saturday, September 23^rd from 10AM to 3PM.</b>
As in the past, the in-person pumpkin patch will have a preview
opening on <b>Friday, September 22^nd, from 5-8PM. There are no
sales at the preview,</b></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0in 0in 0.0001pt;font-size:12pt;font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Returning volunteers, you will all have a sense of
what jobs are available. It’s helpful to me to sign up as many people
as possible in advance of the sale, so if you know there’s a job you wold like
to do, please let me know and I’ll add you to the roster.</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0in 0in 0.0001pt;font-size:12pt;font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"> </span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0in 0in 0.0001pt;font-size:12pt;font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><b><span style="font-size:16pt;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">New volunteers</span></b><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">: here is a short description of the
main and most critical jobs:</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0in 0in 0.0001pt;font-size:12pt;font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><b><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Wrappers – </span></b><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">work in teams<b> </b></span><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">wrapping
pumpkins in tissue and bubble wrap and pack in bags/boxes (there will be
an on-the-job training demo). We need MANY wrappers!</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0in 0in 0.0001pt;font-size:12pt;font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"> </span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0in 0in 0.0001pt;font-size:12pt;font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><b><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Callers/Receipt Writers - </span></b><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">2
people per team work together, one calling out prices and the other writing
receipts and generating invoice/receipts. We usually need at least 8 each of
these.</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0in 0in 0.0001pt;font-size:12pt;font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"> </span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0in 0in 0.0001pt;font-size:12pt;font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><b><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Runners - </span></b><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Take
wrapped orders to the pick-up table.</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0in 0in 0.0001pt;font-size:12pt;font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"> </span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0in 0in 0.0001pt;font-size:12pt;font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><b><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Matchers
</span></b><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">– Compare customer paid invoice with invoice on order and
make sure that pumpkins are going home with the correct customer. </span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0in 0in 0.0001pt;font-size:12pt;font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"> </span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0in 0in 0.0001pt;font-size:12pt;font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><b><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Line monitors - </span></b><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">make
sure people are standing in the correct line, gather contact info for customers
who would like to be added to the mailing list.</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0in 0in 0.0001pt;font-size:12pt;font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"> </span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0in 0in 0.0001pt;font-size:12pt;font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><b><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Friday
Overnight Pumpkin Protection Patrol</span></b><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"> – guard pumpkins under tent and
answer questions posed by random visitors. Two shifts: 8PM-1AM and 1AM-6AM. This
is an important job!</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0in 0in 0.0001pt;font-size:12pt;font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"> </span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0in 0in 0.0001pt;font-size:12pt;font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><i><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">IMPORTANT: be prepared to stay
through the major sale push</span></i><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"> - until at least 11:30AM. It's
very difficult to have volunteers - especially those working under
the tent - leave in the middle of the rush.</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0in 0in 0.0001pt;font-size:12pt;font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">If you have not volunteered at the sale before, don't worry,
we'll give you a job that suits your desires/abilities on site. You will have
fun.</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0in 0in 0.0001pt;font-size:12pt;font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"> </span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0in 0in 0.0001pt;font-size:12pt;font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><b><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">A note about volunteer shopping: </span></b><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">ALL volunteers should
be prepared to show up well before 8:00AM if you want to pre-shop and pick out
any pumpkins to buy at the end of the sale. <b>We will stop
allowing volunteers to set aside pumpkins at 8:30AM. After that time
no pre-shopping will be allowed. </b>We do this because customers waiting
in line become agitated when they witness pumpkins being taken out of the sale
before the sale starts.</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0in 0in 0.0001pt;font-size:12pt;font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"> </span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0in 0in 0.0001pt;font-size:12pt;font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">I will send out one more informational message before the
sale to confirmed volunteers.</span></p>
