Hello glass friends,<div>We are looking for volunteers!<br><div>As some of you may know by now, the annual Glass Art Society conference is going to be in Boston this coming year, from Wednesday, June 12 to Sunday, June 17. The Glass Art Society (<a href="http://www.glassart.org/">http://www.glassart.org/</a>) is America's largest association of independent glass artists with a membership of over 2500 people from 46 countries. We anticipate attendance of about 1000 people at the Boston conference.</div>
<div>The conference will be jointly hosted by MIT and the Massachusetts College of Art and Design (MassArt), and will also include other area resources such as Andy Magdanz's studio in North Cambridge, the glass flower collection at Harvard, and various galleries. An opening day of exciting talks, tours and demonstrations at MIT will be followed by two days of activities at MassArt. A full summary of events will be published in a pre-conference brochure that will be published this September.</div>
<div>Between now and next June there is a tremendous amount of planning and organizing to do so that the conference will run smoothly. We will need MANY volunteers to help with everything from helping staff information tables for a couple of hours to coordinating tours, setting up for a reception party in the Media Lab, etc, etc. If you are interested in being part of the GAS conference, either as a volunteer, and attendee, or both, we will be having a meeting to build a base of volunteers this coming Monday, August 20th at 6:00 PM. The meeting will be at MIT in the Chipman Room in building 6 (room 6-104). A map showing directions to the Chipman Room from the Kendall/MIT red line stop is attached. Parking can usually be found at this time of day on Main Street or Massachusetts Avenue between Vassar Street and Central Square, or on Vassar Street.</div>
<div>We hope you'll want to be involved with GAS in some way.</div><div>Please be in touch if you have any questions.</div><div>See you soon!</div><div>Peter</div><div><br clear="all"><div><br></div>-- <br>Peter Houk<br>
