He had been professor at SKLCC since 2005. His research interests mainly focus on greenhouse gas reduction, gas-particle turbulence and combustion simulation. He is prime investigator of several state major fundamental research project (973), state high-tech R&D project (863), and projects of national science foundation of China (NSFC). He has series work on DNS/LES/PDF simulation and PIV measurement of gas-particle turbulence. The public concerns on carbon dioxide and global warming have been aroused in China in recent years. Among others, oxy-fuel combustion technology is a feasible choice for fighting the challenge of carbon capture. As early as mid 1990s, investigations on oxy-fuel combustion were started in Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST), China. Under the support of China’s 973 and 863 key projects (government funding), the State Key Laboratory of Coal Combustion (SKLCC) of HUST has successfully built up a 300kWt oxy-fuel pilot facility with multi-pollutant controls in 2006. This is the largest pilot facility for oxy-fuel research in China up to now. Validation of oxy-fuel conceptual designs has been carried out on this test facility.
