The Annual John R. Freeman Lecture is today, <b>Tuesday, March 7</b>, at
the MIT Tang Center, Bldg. E51. Excellent food & libations will

Foyer. The reception is free and open to all. <br><br>
<b>"Integrated Water Resources Management in the Midst of Chaos and
Caducity: Lessons from Hurricane Katrina"</b> will be
presented by Dr. Eugene Z. Stakhiv, from the Institute for Water
Resources, USACE at 7 pm in the Wong Auditorium.<br><br>
<b><a name="estakhiv"></a>Dr. Eugene Stakhiv</b> is chief of the
Policy Division at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' Institute for Water
Resources, where he has served as U.S. representative to many
international efforts on climate change and water, including the
Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. Dr. Stakhiv returned recently
from Iraq where he managed the Ministry of Water Resources (previously
the Ministry of Irrigation), with responsibilities that included
addressing Iraq's water infrastructure, helping restore its salt marshes,
and establishing research centers. Stakhiv earned his doctorate at Johns
Hopkins<a name="estakhiv"></a> in water resources systems
engineering.<br>
