the US; he had sailed and walked through the Caribbean

Bolivia, Argentina, and Chile. John uses his own

he came to be on this journey, John will explain

experience and the concept that a pilgrimage has for him

Journey is a geographic and interior one, characterized

and misadventures as well as circumstances of
tragedy,</font></blockquote>

realization.</font></blockquote>

<blockquote type="cite" cite><font color="#0F0205">In 2003, after
leading his first group walk of 75 international
students</font></blockquote>
<blockquote type="cite" cite><font color="#0F0205">through Cuba, He
recognized the need for a formal, well-tested
curriculum</font></blockquote>
<blockquote type="cite" cite><font color="#0F0205">based on
pilgrimage.</font></blockquote>
<blockquote type="cite" cite><font
color="#0F0205"><br></font></blockquote>
<blockquote type="cite" cite><font color="#0F0205">To address this
need he is launching PLANETLINES, an organization
whose</font></blockquote>
<blockquote type="cite" cite><font color="#0F0205">mission is to
create and disseminate an environmental, peace, and
community</font></blockquote>
<blockquote type="cite" cite><font color="#0F0205">service curriculum.
Based on the concept of pilgrimage, the project
will</font></blockquote>
<blockquote type="cite" cite><font color="#0F0205">serve high schools,
universities, and civic groups. Through the
curriculum,</font></blockquote>
<blockquote type="cite" cite><font color="#0F0205">young people and
adults of diverse cultures and economic backgrounds
will</font></blockquote>
<blockquote type="cite" cite><font color="#0F0205">gain the knowledge
and tools necessary to develop their own walking</font></blockquote>
<blockquote type="cite" cite><font color="#0F0205">pilgrimages. By
combining science, the humanities, and public
service,</font></blockquote>
<blockquote type="cite" cite><font color="#0F0205">students will learn
that they can create lasting environmental and
social</font></blockquote>
<blockquote type="cite" cite><font color="#0F0205">change. The
hands-on multi-disciplinary curriculum will bring education
to</font></blockquote>
<blockquote type="cite" cite><font color="#0F0205">life in schools
where traditional teaching methods have failed to
engage</font></blockquote>
<blockquote type="cite" cite><font
color="#0F0205">students.</font></blockquote>
<blockquote type="cite" cite><font

<blockquote type="cite" cite><font color="#0F0205">He will invite
participants to join him in recognizing their own moments
