Abstract:<br>
Energy intensity in China has fallen almost continuously since the
onset of economic reform in the late 1970s. Understanding the factors
driving this decline in a large carbon-intensive country like China is
important for understanding the future trajectory of global carbon
emissions. In this research, we utilize a uniquely rich data set of
Chinese firm characteristics and technological innovation activities
to identify the key determinants of rising energy efficiency within
China's industrial sector.<br>
