<br>
*Meeting Notes from June 19, 2014*</b></div>

<div><b>*MIT Spectrvm and Continuum*</b></div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>The latest issue of <a href="http://spectrum.mit.edu/current-issue/">MIT Spectrvm</a>, the newsletter produced by the MIT Resource Development Office of Communications, just came out, and many of you might be interested in its cover story on the importance
of basic research. People from many departments and labs across the Institute--including the president--talk about the topic and/or describe their personal research. </div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>There's lots of good material for social media posts. You may also be interested in reprinting some of the content in your own newsletters (please contact executive editor Liz Karagianis for more information on the latter, <<a href="mailto:rkara@mit.edu">rkara@mit.edu</a>>).</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>My colleague Stephanie Eich also described a relatively new addition to RD Communications: <a href="http://spectrum.mit.edu/continuum/">MIT Continuum</a>, the blog for Spectrvm. It features "more words, pictures, and video of the MIT family--students,
faculty, & alumni." One recent post, for example, features video segments on the eight "brilliant--and brave" MIT faculty featured to date on <a href="http://spectrum.mit.edu/continuum/mit-faculty-school-stephen-colbert-on-science-education/">The Colbert Report</a>.
Enjoy.</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div><b>*Photo Rights*</b></div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>Does MIT have a uniform policy for handling photo rights, or does each unit approach it differently? That was one of the questions posed in a recent discussion on photo rights on the MIT Yammer Communicators/Writers/Editors group list. </div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>Fortunately, it turns out that we have an in-house expert on the subject.</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>Elizabeth Levy of the Office of General Counsel is happy to answer your questions. She can be reached at x3-4755, or <span style="font-family: courier; font-size: 17px; line-height: 22px; ">
