Join the entire MIT community - including students, staff, faculty, friends, and family - at Johnson Athletic Center W26 on March 10-11, 2012 for a fun-filled, family-friendly overnight experience designed to bring together those who have been touched by cancer. During the event, we celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease. Family-friendly activities will take place from 6:30-8:30pm. Last year, in our first year of organizing the event, we had over 600 participants and raised over $40,000 to support cancer research, advocacy, and patient care. <br></span><br><span style="font-family:Arial;color:rgb(0,0,0);background-color:transparent;font-weight:normal;font-style:normal;font-variant:normal;text-decoration:none;vertical-align:baseline;white-space:pre-wrap">Cancer survivors play an important role at Relay. After a special dinner for survivors and their caregivers at 6pm, survivors kick off the entire event by walking the opening celebratory lap, and they are honored later in the night by the lighting of Luminarias. These Luminarias shine to represent the hope for a future where cancer no longer threatens the lives of our family and friends.
