EDITORIAL AND PRODUCTION ASSISTANT, Public Relations Services, to
serve as the office's primary proofreader and layout person, with
primary responsibility for preparing images and photographs for print
publications including MIT's official campus newspaper (Tech Talk).
Will write captions and headlines; proofread articles and news
releases and correct for grammar; fact-check; do some writing, usually
short pieces edited from existing material; and manage and edit the
classified ad section and serve as backup editor for the calendar
page. Will also help create and maintain a system for receiving,
storing, preparing, and distributing photos and images to be used for
office publications and external clients; and be responsible for using
Photoshop and InDesign for print production and problem-solving,
sometimes under deadline pressure.</font><br>

<div><font color="#000000">REQUIREMENTS: a minimum of three years'
related work experience or its equivalent in education. Seek highly
organized and motivated individual who can prioritize and carry out
detailed work quickly. Should enjoy working both independently and as
part of a team in a busy office with frequent interruptions. Must have
excellent command of language, grammar, spelling, and punctuation; a
good visual sense; and problem-solving design skills with page layout
and images. Must have excellent communication skills and be able to
describe and maintain processes. Proofreading experience required.
Writing experience a plus. Experience with page layout software and
Photoshop required. Experience with Macintosh computers and digital
photography very helpful. Must demonstrate proven commitment to
keeping work on schedule. Discretion when working with confidential
matters a must. Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent experience
preferred. Evening hours one night a week often required for newspaper
