Hello,

SIheff does *not* include the accumulated snow pack. The variable “SIhsnow” is for the effective snow thickness.

Best,
Ou Wang

Subject: [EXTERNAL] [ecco-support] SIheff definition
Hello
According to the ECCO Version 4 Release 3 overview document (Wang et al 2017), the variable SIheff is defined as:
"Effective sea-ice thickness (m) that is defined as actual sea-ice thickness scaled by fractional sea-ice area".
I was told by a reviewer that the accumulated snow pack is also included in this variable. Is that correct?
Thanks,
