Degree: ALA accredited Masters degree in Library Science.
<p class="text">Minimum number of years and type of relevant work
experience:<br>
Required: Experience working with faculty or staff in the use of online<br>
tools and services to suit their needs, preferably in an academic<br>
setting; experience performing outreach, marketing, or liaison services;<br>
familiarity with descriptive metadata schemes such as Dublin Core, MODS,<br>
or USMARC; excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication<br>
skills; ability to work effectively both independently and in groups.<br>
<br>
Desired: Knowledge of trends in institutional repositories and their<br>
strategic importance to academic libraries and research communities;<br>
extensive knowledge of digital library and archival goals, practices,<br>
and tools, especially with regard to technology and preservation;<br>
experience working within complex library systems; familiarity with and<br>
understanding of instructional and research workflows. </p>
<p class="text">Principal duties: Reporting to the head of the
University of Wisconsin Digital<br>
Collections Center, the Digital Repository Librarian has primary<br>
responsibility for the recruitment of new user communities and for the<br>
acquisition of new content for MINDS@UW, the University of Wisconsin's<br>
Institutional Repository. The Digital Repository Librarian is also<br>
responsible for managing communication with and support of MINDS@UW<br>
users, and for coordinating the efforts of library staff and<br>
instructional technologists working with repository users throughout the<br>
University of Wisconsin System. The position will require a<br>
knowledgeable, enthusiastic, communicative, and self-motivated
individual.<br>
