<p class="MsoNormal"><b style="">The University of
Maryland Libraries</b> is seeking qualified applicants for the position
of
Librarian (Coordinator) for Digital Repository at the University of
Maryland
(DRUM).<span style="">&nbsp; </span>This position reports to the
Collection Management Team Leader and is responsible for the leadership
of the
DRUM Team.<span style="">&nbsp; </span>The DRUM Coordinator may be
responsible for the supervision of one .5 <st1:stockticker w:st="on">FTE</st1:stockticker>
graduate assistant.<span style="">&nbsp; </span>The University
Libraries use DSpace for the management and accessibility of its
digital repository.<span style="">&nbsp; </span>The collection currently
consists of more
than 2,500 items and averages 900 searches per month.<span style="">&nbsp; </span>DRUM
is accessible at <a href="http://drum.umd.edu/">http://drum.umd.edu</a></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p>&nbsp;</o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><b style="">Responsibilities: </b>The
DRUM Coordinator is responsible for advancing the development of the
campus
digital repository and in promoting repository services to the <st1:place
 w:st="on"><st1:PlaceType w:st="on">University</st1:PlaceType> of <st1:PlaceName
 w:st="on">Maryland</st1:PlaceName></st1:place> campus.<span style="">&nbsp;
</span>The coordinator provides direct user support,
education, and documentation, develops new collections within the
repository,
and develops and implements public relations and marketing of programs
in
coordination with the Public Relations team.<span style="">&nbsp;
</span>The Coordinator serves as liaison to Information Technology
Division and
Technical Services Division staff contributing to the service and
provides
training for Library staff.<span style="">&nbsp; </span>The DRUM
Coordinator serves as an expert on institutional repositories and other
open
access repositories as well as copyright issues surrounding
institutional
repositories.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p>&nbsp;</o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><b style="">Qualifications:
Required: </b>An appropriate graduate degree, which may include an <st1:stockticker
 w:st="on">ALA</st1:stockticker>-accredited Master&#8217;s degree in Library
or
Information Science or a Master&#8217;s degree in Information Management, but
other
related degrees may be equally relevant.<span style="">&nbsp;
</span>At least one year&#8217;s experience with digital libraries,
electronic
archives, institutional repositories, or an equivalent open access
vehicle.<span style="">&nbsp; </span>Strong written and oral communication
skills.<span style="">&nbsp; </span>Demonstrated initiative and
creativity.<span style="">&nbsp; </span>Ability to work
collaboratively in a team environment and to work effectively within a
complex
academic environment.<span style="">&nbsp; </span>Commitment to
ongoing professional growth and development. <span style="">&nbsp;</span>Commitment
to principles of diversity. <span style="">&nbsp;</span><b style="">Preferred:
</b>Knowledge of basic metadata schemas, especially <st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place
 w:st="on">Dublin</st1:place></st1:City> core, knowledge of HTML.<span
 style="">&nbsp; </span>Teaching experience.<span style="">&nbsp; </span>Strong
public service focus.</p>
