I've never heard of either of the systems you mention so couldn't speak
to their relationship to DSpace.<br><br>
MIT is working on a project to define a mapping between IMS CP (or a
local profile of them) and the<br>
current METS profile we use, to support importing IMS CPs into DSpace. We
are also working on<br>
some Web Services (and OKI OSIDs) to support very basic search and
content exchange with <br>
LMSes, but these are in early stages. Our work in this area is described

<a href="http://cwspace.mit.edu/" eudora="autourl">http://cwspace.mit.edu/</a><br><br>
Other institutions are also working in the area of learning object
repositories and interoperability with<br>
LMS's (UCLA and the Univ of Wisconsin spring to mind). <br><br>
DCMI most certainly is globally adopted, and there is a profile in
development specifically for learning<br>
objects (see http://dublincore.org/groups/education/). It will be
harmonious with the IMS LOM...<br><br>
DSpace does not exclusively use Postgresql, it just ships with that
database... we like it. The latest <br>
release has a patch for Oracle support, and it's not terribly difficult
to port the system for other <br>
relational databases if you need to. There are only a couple of areas
that rely of database-specific <br>
functionality beyond the scope of standard sql.<br><br>
