I assume that by "cross-talk" you mean
"interoperability" between DSpace and Greenstone.<br>
This does not exist in any formal way now, but both systems have a way to
support "METS" packaging of<br>
their digital objects

so you could at last export/import the data and metadata<br>
between the two systems (although this might require a stylesheet or
other means of translated between DSpace<br>
METS and Greenstone METS). <br><br>
As for other types of interoperability, DSpace has implemented a
lightweight OKI Digital Repository Open Service <br>
Interface Definition (OSID)

for depositing, extracting,<br>
and searching items in the repository. That's about it so far. <br><br>

using FOSS. I have myself acquired a lot of knowledge by studying the
source code developed by others. This is also a big advantage of FOSS as
you can study the source code and thus become a better programmer and
