Center’s most significant achievements over the last year has been the hiring of
Dr. Brian (Tony) Ciochetti as the Thomas G. Eastman Chair of the Center for Real
Estate.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>Ciochetti was founding
director of the Center for Real Estate Development in the Keenan-Flagler School
of Business at the <st1:PlaceType w:st="on">University</st1:PlaceType> of
<st1:PlaceName w:st="on">North Carolina</st1:PlaceName>, <st1:place
w:st="on">Chapel Hill</st1:place>. A highly-respected academic, he also
brings extensive real estate industry experience in development and in
commercial mortgage analysis, as well as considerable success as an institution
builder at UNC.<BR><BR><SPAN class=689441113-25042003>Tony</SPAN> will work
closely with CRE Director David Geltner as a partner in the leadership of the
MIT center, responsible in particular for the cultivation of industry-relevant
research and membership programs, and for teaching topics in real estate finance
and development. He will also continue<SPAN class=689441113-25042003>
to nurture and expand</SPAN> the ongoing operations of the Master of
Science in Real Estate program, the nation's first one-year graduate program in
real estate development. Since its inception in 1983, the master's program
has served as a model for graduate programs at other universities both in the
<st1:country-region w:st="on"><st1:place
w:st="on">US</st1:place></st1:country-region> and abroad. <BR><BR>Ciochetti
holds a BA in finance from the <st1:PlaceType
w:st="on">University</st1:PlaceType> of <st1:PlaceName
w:st="on">Oregon</st1:PlaceName>, and an MS and a PhD in real estate and urban
land economics from the <st1:PlaceType w:st="on">University</st1:PlaceType> of
