</b>On Friday, October 15, 2010 at 12:40 a.m., a female reported to the
Cambridge Police Department that she was indecently assaulted in the area of 110
– 119 Pacific Street. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=style5><strong><span style='font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'>***SUMMARY:*
**</span></strong><b><br>
</b>The female victim reported that while opening the rear door to her
residence she was grabbed from behind. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=style5><b>SUSPECT:</b><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=style5>The victim describes the suspect as follows: male, possibly
white, in late 20’s, 5’10” – 5’11” ; medium
build, long curly brown hair, wearing a white tank top, a green baseball hat,
naked from the waist down, and not wearing any shoes.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=style5>Because this incident did not occur on MIT property, it is
being investigated by the Cambridge Police. If anyone has any information
regarding this incident, please contact the Cambridge Police Department at 617-349-3300.<o:p></o:p></p>

<strong><span style='font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'>**Sexual Assault
Programs and Procedures**</span></strong><b><br>
</b>MIT is committed to fostering a safe environment that supports its<br>
educational mission and that is free from exploitation and intimidation.<br>
It is important that members of the MIT community who are survivors<br>
of sexual assault be offered immediate medical treatment, counseling<br>
support, and police assistance. Survivors and close friends are traumatized<br>
by such incidents and are concerned about confidentiality. Care<br>
and consideration will be used in providing services and support<br>
to survivors and others affected by trauma.<br>

**<strong><span style='font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'>Rape Education and
Prevention Strategies</span></strong>**<br>
MIT is committed to educating the campus community in ways to prevent<br>
sexual assault. Throughout the academic year and during orientation,<br>
the Center for Health Promotion and Wellness at MIT Medical, the Office<br>
of the Dean for Student Life, the MIT Police, and certain student<br>
organizations deliver educational programs to parents, students, employees, and
other<br>
members of the community. These sessions provide information on<br>
preventing sexual assault and rape, supporting friends who are survivors<br>
of sexual assault, security programs, residence hall and Institute-wide<br>
regulations and behavior standards, and an outline of the resources<br>
available to members of the MIT community. For educational programs and<br>
information on preventing sexual assault and getting support for<br>

The MIT Police have specially trained men and women officers who<br>
investigate sexual assaults. During all interviews, the MIT Police will<br>
make every effort to offer female survivors an opportunity to have a<br>
female officer present, and male officers for male survivors. In<br>
addition, the MIT Police will help a survivor, who wishes to do so, make<br>
