Informational Bulletin - Laptop Theft

The MIT Police are seeking your help. There have been several laptop computers stolen from campus this summer, mostly during the 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. time frame, and on upper floors,  in particular the second, third and fourth floors.   In one theft, a photo of a possible suspect was taken. MIT Police Detectives have posted information about the suspect on a public website called Mass Most Wanted http://www.massmostwanted.org/index.cfm?ac=casedetails&CaseID=20110474   Today, August 23,  at approximately 11:00 a.m., in the main group area of buildings 2, 6, 7 and 10, calls were received about a suspicious person. The description of the person today was a white male, late 20ies or early 30ies, wearing a white t-shirt with a Nike emblem, brown shorts, and carrying a black back pack. This description fits the suspect in the attached photo.

If you see any suspicious activity call the MIT Police Immediately. Dial 100 from an institute phone, 3-1212 or 617-253-1212 from a cell phone. You can also utilize a blue light emergency phone.

MIT Police and IS&T will offer the STOP tagging of laptop computers on Thursday, September 1 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm in E17 - 121. This loss prevention measure costs $10 and more information can be found at http://www.stoptheft.com/site/index.php
