<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">The Knouse Lab (www.knouselab.org) at the Whitehead Institute is seeking a senior UROP to join our lab this academic year and ultimately become a full-time,
paid research assistant upon graduation. Our lab harnesses the incredible genetic tractability and regenerative capacity of the mouse liver in order to understand the molecular mechanisms of organ regeneration and reversible cell cycle states.
To this end, we are developing and employing tools to probe the regulation of these processes in their native context from the level of single cells to whole organism—including
in vivo genome-wide screens and whole-organ lineage tracing and imaging. Our investigations will first and foremost fill critical gaps in our understanding of the quiescent state and liver regeneration and ultimately uncover new avenues for enabling
regeneration across organ systems. A UROP/research assistant would have the opportunity to spend the majority of his or her time pursuing an independent research project in one of these areas.
