Environment Massachusetts is a statewide, grassroots environmental organization working to tackle our biggest environmental challenges and fight for a greener future.

Our interns make a big impact on our campaigns, while gaining valuable skills in political advocacy and grassroots organizing.

As an intern, you’ll work on campaigns like:

Repowering Massachusetts with 100 percent renewable energy: We can get all of the energy we need from clean, renewable sources like solar and wind. But too much of our power still comes from dirty fossil fuels that contribute to climate change. We’re
campaigning for a goal of 100 percent renewable energy for Massachusetts, and we're fighting for policies to expand solar and offshore wind.

Protecting the Charles River: Every summer, pollution in the Charles River leads to toxic cyanobacteria blooms, which turn the water green and make it unsafe for swimming or boating. These blooms release chemicals that are linked to neurological, kidney,
and liver damage. We’re working to reduce pollution in the river and protect the health of nearby communities.

Getting the lead out of drinking water: Lead contamination in our drinking water is still a major problem, as the tragedy in Flint, Michigan, has demonstrated. In Massachusetts, tests in dozens of school buildings have revealed dangerous levels of lead.
We're working to protect kids from exposure to harmful lead pollution.

As an intern with Environment Massachusetts, you’ll work hard and take on real responsibility. Our interns organize press conferences, write op-eds and letters to the editor, build powerful coalitions, meet with state officials, and mobilize grassroots support
for our campaigns.

We’re hiring interns for the summer, for the fall semester, and for the academic year. Interns typically work 10-15 hours per week during the academic year and 20-40 hours per week during the summer. The position is unpaid.

The deadline to apply for a summer internship is Friday, April 7.
