However, some of our leaders lack understanding of scientific notions and methods, which can lead them to make misinformed decisions. We think, for this reason, that scientists and engineers should be able to effectively engage in activities that transcend their particular focus areas.<br>
<br>This is why STeLA (Science and Technology Leadership Association) was founded in 2007, with the aim to develop future leaders in science and society. We bring together top university students from around the world for an eight-day leadership conference focusing on a specific global challenge and addressing issues at the intersection of science, policy and ethics. No background necessary, and non-science students are also welcome.</font></p>
