<div>The goal of this colloquium is to facilitate a dialogue between psychologists working on stereotype threat and philosophers of psychology. Stereotype threat can be roughly described as the negative impact of stereotypes upon those stereotyped, and it appears
to have far-reaching influence. Not only does research on this phenomenon have important consequences for our philosophical understanding of the self, but it has also been shown to be a key factor in the underrepresentation of women and other minorities in
philosophy and elsewhere. Speakers include Louise Antony, Greg Walton, Ron Mallon, Steven Spencer, and Tamar Gendler.</div>

<i>On the Sensations of Tone as a Physiological Basis for the Theory of Music</i>. This colloquium will explore both the legacy of Helmholtz's work and new directions in the science of music. Speakers include David Cahan, Lydia Patton, Eric J. Heller, and Diana
Deutsch.<br>

<div>For 2013's Karbank Symposium on Environmental Philosophy, John Broome will discuss his book, Climate Matters, in which he examines the moral dimensions of climate change. The event will include critical discussion of Broome's book by several commentators,
including Stephen Gardiner, David Roochnik, and Caspar Hare.</div>

<div><b>This spring also marks another very special event</b> <b>at the Center</b>: the 90th birthday of Robert S. Cohen, who founded the Center for Philosophy and History of Science, the Boston Colloquium, and the book series Boston Studies in Philosophy of
Science. We will be taking this occasion to reflect on Bob's many contributions to the development of the History and Philosophy of Science, and to thank him for a lifetime of dedication to our field.</div>
