<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent:.5in">A unique opportunity to join the Kirsch lab in June 2012 at Duke as a research technician to study cancer initiation, progression and treatment and participate in translational research utilizing state of the art
mouse models of cancer and image-guided radiation therapy. The technician will perform experiments using Duke University Medical Center’s novel small animal micro-CT/micro-irradiator research platform to image and treat genetically engineered mice with cancer
or modified normal tissues.<span style="mso-spacerun:yes"> </span>These experiments include collaborations within the Kirsch lab a well as with others researchers at Duke and at other centers.<span style="mso-spacerun:yes">
</span>The technician will perform regular assays for quality control to ensure the smooth operation and performance of the research platform. In addition, the technician will assist other lab members with various surgical procedures on mice for other projects.
This position offers a fantastic learning experience for someone interested in a career in research, oncology, and/or medicine.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent:.5in">Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree in the biological sciences or biomedical engineering and must be comfortable with troubleshooting software/hardware and computer-guided technology. The successful applicant
will be able to collaborate and work effectively in a team and also work well independently.
<span style="mso-spacerun:yes"> </span>Handling mice and rats is required, but prior research with rodents is not required.
