</b><u>Submit your proposal for a Davis Projects for Peace $10,000
fellowship!<br>
</u>Davis Projects for Peace is offering a $10,000 fellowship for an
MIT undergraduate student project that promotes peace, to be
implemented in the summer of 2011. The aim is to "help
young people launch some immediate initiatives that could bring new
thinking to the prospects for peace in the world." MIT will
select several compelling proposals to send forward, and at least one
is guaranteed to be funded! Think creatively, innovatively, and
entrepreneurially -- this is a chance to formulate and test ideas for
peace. Proposals should be emailed to <a

where, how, anticipated outcomes) that includes confirmation of the
participation of any partner organizations or people<br>
-- a detailed one-page budget for carrying out the project in summer
2011<br>
If your proposal is selected, we will help you refine it. You

</b><u>IDEAS and Global Challenge: Submit Your Initial Proposal and
Grant Request<br>
</u>The world has problems. You have ideas. The IDEAS Competition and
MIT Global Challenge have up to $150,000 in awards -- up to $25,000
per project -- to help make those ideas a reality. Student-led teams
with projects that have the potential to reduce barriers to well-being
in areas like sanitation, health care access, education, housing,
energy and much more are encouraged to enter. To get started, sign up

</b><u>The MONSTER Challenge Info session + dinner<br>
</u>Join us at 7PM in 4-153 to hear from speakers as they frame
day-to-day challenges of being a migrant or temporary worker, meet
other students and explore ideas and learn how to enter your idea for
up to $25k in awards. This year Monster Worldwide is sponsoring a
challenge through IDEAS and the MIT Global Challenge to encourage and
support innovation to improve technology for migrant and temporary
workers.

</b><u>ReachOut: Help Teach a Child to Read<br>
</u>ReachOut is a literacy program that matches MIT students with
children at a local after school center for tutoring twice a week.
Students may participate in ReachOut as volunteers or receive a paid
position through Community Service Work-Study. An information
session will be held Friday, February 11, 4-5pm, 4-231. All new tutors
must attend a training on February 15 or 16. The application can

</b><u>FSILG&D community service challenge<br>
</u>The FSILG&D Community Service Challenge is a challenge to MIT
undergrad and graduate students to rally around their fraternities,
sororities, independent living groups, and dorms to participate in
community service and compete for the Service Cup. Teams must register
by February 11 to compete in the challenge that runs from Feb.
28-April 1. Registered teams are eligible to apply for partial
alternative spring break funding by February 18. Questions can be sent

</b><u>The Yunus Challenge Information Session<br>
</u>Come hear panelists at 7PM in 66-110 discuss challenges and gaps
in current agricultural processes. Around the world 550 million
smallholder farmers lack access to mechanized agricultural technology.
This year's Yunus Innovation Challenge calls for locally and
environmentally sustainable innovations to improve the livelihoods of

</b><u>Apply to be a Freshman Urban Program (FUP) Counselor<br>
</u>The Freshman Urban Program (FUP) is a freshman pre-orientation
program that introduces students to MIT and the surrounding community
through service activities and discussion of urban issues. The program
is facilitated by the Public Service Center in cooperation with
upperclassmen coordinators and counselors. We are now accepting
applications for August 2011 FUP counselors. Gain leadership
skills and help us introduce freshmen to their new community and its
public service possibilities. Applications are due Friday, February 18
