ABOUT the MIT150 FAST Festival of Art, Science and Technology:<br>
A prominent feature of the MIT150 anniversary events will be FAST, a
festival celebrating MIT's unique confluence of art, science, and
technology. Produced by a steering committee headed by Tod Machover,
Professor of Music and Media, FAST will present an exciting and
surprising variety of work, embracing past to future, performance to
debate, and installations to the unclassifiable. FAST will appear
throughout the MIT campus and extend over the entire Spring 2011
semester, punctuated by five special Festival weekends.<br>

PROJECTS:<br>
The FAST Steering Committee is calling on students to create projects
to be installed and presented throughout campus in Spring 2011,
culminating on the evening of May 6 for the final Festival weekend.
The theme of the event on May 6 is "light," specifically, the
kinetic illumination of MIT. Therefore, projects involving structures,
performance, sound, music, movement, installation and more that
incorporate light are highly encouraged. The FAST Steering Committee
will work with award winners to site projects and produce the work
during IAP and throughout the semester.<br>

Requirements:<br>

<ul>
<li>Projects must be sited on MIT's campus
<li>Installation projects must be able to withstand an installation
period of at least 1-week
<li>Projects must meet the Safety Office's <a
href="http://ehs.mit.edu/site/content/projectsexhibits-public-spaces"
>guidelines</a> and are subject to its safety approval process.
<li>Award winners MUST be available to work with FAST during IAP to
site and develop their projects</ul>

ELIGIBILITY<br>
The competition is open to any registered MIT student or team of
students who are enrolled during the academic year of 2010/11.
Cross-disciplinary teams of students are especially welcome.<br>
<br>
JURY<br>
The FAST Student Awards will be juried by members of the MIT faculty
and the FAST Steering Committee, led by Professor Tod Machover,
Associate Professor Meejin Yoon, and Director of Arts Initiatives
Leila Kinney.<br>

APPLICATIONS<br>
Project proposals must be submitted as a PDF to <a
href="mailto:fastproducers@mit.edu">fastproducers@mit.edu</a> by
December 10, 2010 and must include the following:<br>
