Dear Students,

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the National
University of Singapore (NUS) is hosting a research exchange for the
summer of 2010 that provides students from MIT and NUS the opportunity
to conduct faculty-mentored research projects at the other university.
The MIT-NUS program aims to enhance and broaden students'
undergraduate experiences, provide opportunities to live in another
culture, conduct research in a different academic/research
environment, and help develop skills to better prepare for leadership
roles in a global economy.

For MIT students, the Exchange will run May 24, 2010 through July 30,
2010. Up to three students from each university will
participate in this exchange. MIT will nominate students to
participate in science or engineering research as part of Summer UROP
at NUS; their faculty will select up to three of our recommendations.

MIT applicants must submit (no later than March 12, 2010) the
following to the Office of Undergraduate Advising an Academic
Programming (via fax to: 617-258-8816 or email to: <font

* A personal statement describing their
research interests.

* Two letters of recommendation from MIT
faculty.

* An official transcript with their
applications.

Faculty of Engineering and Faculty of Science at NUS will match MIT
students with mentors whose research best matches the students'
interests. MIT students will collaborate with the NUS mentor to
define and develop the project.

Arrangements for MIT students at NUS:

* NUS will provide free on-campus housing for
up to three MIT students.

* Students will provide their own meals.

* Air travel expenses will be subsidized by
MIT.

* Summer wages will be paid by MIT.

* MIT students will have access to the same
facilities and privileges enjoyed by NUS students on the campus.

We strongly encourage interested students to be in touch with us at <a
