individual in this position will be responsible for assisting in a
variety of the research endeavors in the electrical impedance
myography laboratory at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, under
the direction of Seward Rutkove, MD. This work focuses on studying,
developing, and refining this technique for the non-invasive
evaluation of muscle. The specific duties of this research assistant
will include: 1. Assisting with data collection in human subjects
using a variety of techniques including ultrasound and electrical
impedance myography; 2.Assisting with data analysis. 3. Assisting, as
needed, with animal work, including performing measurements on
animals. 4. Assisting with device development and programming as part
of our engineering work. 5. Assisting with manuscript and grant
application preparation. 6. Interacting with the institutional review
board. The position will be very varied in its responsibilities and
the individual in this position will be exposed to a variety of areas
of human neuromuscular disease research, from bench to
bedside.</font></blockquote>

color="#000000">Desired qualifications:</font></blockquote>
<blockquote type="cite" cite><font face="Arial" color="#000000">1.
Good interpersonal skills and ability/desire to work with
patients.</font></blockquote>
<blockquote type="cite" cite><font face="Arial" color="#000000">2.
Good analytical skills and experience in working in standard microsoft
office programs, including excel.</font></blockquote>
<blockquote type="cite" cite><font face="Arial" color="#000000">3.
Familiarity and experience with Matlab software is highly
desirable.</font></blockquote>
<blockquote type="cite" cite><font face="Arial" color="#000000">4. A
degree in biomedical engineering, computer science, neuroscience or a
related field is preferable.</font></blockquote>
<blockquote type="cite" cite><font face="Arial" color="#000000">5. An
interest/willingness to work with animals is also desired, but is not
critical.</font></blockquote>
<blockquote type="cite" cite><font face="Arial" color="#000000">6. An
interest in device development and software design would also be
helpful.</font></blockquote>
<blockquote type="cite" cite><font face="Arial" color="#000000">7.
Ability to perform basic electrical work, including soldering, would
also be useful.</font></blockquote>
