The Biophysical Society 53rd Annual Meeting is coming to the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center, February 28 - March 4, 2009.

Don’t miss out on the opportunity to introduce undergraduate science majors to the exciting field of Biophysics!

For one day, on Sunday, March 1, 2009, undergraduate students within a 75-mile radius of the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center (who are not already presenting a poster at the meeting) are invited to register for the Undergraduate Student Symposium and gain FREE! access to our Annual Meeting. This program, sponsored by our Education Committee, will introduce college and university undergraduates to research and career opportunities in biophysics through a seminar on emerging topics in biophysics and a lecture given by Dr. Philip Nelson, 2009 Emily M. Gray Awardee, honoring those who have made significant contributions to Biophysics education. The symposium will also include a reception where students will be able to meet and network with other students interested in learning more about biophysics. Biophysics Graduate Institution Fair will follow.

Biophysics is currently one of the hottest fields in research science, involving the use of mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology to study how living organisms work. Biophysicists are especially interested in the physics and physical chemistry of biological processes and make great use of qualitative measurements and analysis. They work in universities, industry, medical centers, research institutes, and government. Students currently studying various areas of undergraduate science may find many exciting career opportunities in the field of biophysics. Attending the Undergraduate Student Symposium and our Annual Meeting will expose students to amazing career possibilities they may not have considered.

We hope to see your students at the Undergraduate Student Symposium. Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity to attend the Biophysical Society 53rd Annual Meeting for FREE!

Please post the attached flyers and sign-up form in your department today! (Pre-registration is required.)
