Merck & Co., Inc. is seeking individuals with training in the natural sciences, business, or engineering and with IT experience to help transform business processes and the underlying technologies.<BR>

Merck's Information Services will be on campus to interview on Friday September 21 for several regular (full time) and summer internship positions. Positions are open for qualified students (undergraduate and<BR>
graduate) and alumni. <BR>
<BR>
Information Services Leadership Program positions are extremely competitive openings that require demonstrated leadership capabilities as well as business or scientific experience and technical competence. A select group of individuals will be chosen to rotate through three 8-month positions of responsibility in different areas of the company, allowing them to build knowledge of the business processes, technologies, and people that will provide substantial potential for impact and career growth. These positions require an undergraduate, graduate, or Ph.D. degree in business, engineering management, or the natural sciences or related disciplines (biochemistry, biology, biomedical/chemical engineering, chemistry, mathematics, pharmacology, etc.) and demonstrated strong leadership and IT-related skills and experience. Applicants must have demonstrated academic achievement with a GPA of 4.0/5 or greater. A successful candidate will also have a demonstrated aptitude for and interest in working with processes and computer technologies that support: drug discovery and development; automation of factory and laboratory processes; novel & creative sales, marketing, and e-commerce initiatives; or building the computing architecture that provides the foundation for innovative development.<BR>

Summer internship and full-time non-rotating positions are also available.<BR>
As information is the competitive advantage, Merck's Information Services<BR>
(IS) group collaborates with Merck's Research, Manufacturing, Sales, Marketing, Finance, Human Resources, and Corporate divisions to create business, scientific, and IT solutions. Responsibilities of these positions include providing:<BR>
** Business Process Re-engineering, Project Management, IT Integration (people, process, information, technology), Change Management;<BR>
** analysis, requirements, design, development, testing, documentation, and implementation of applications and concomitant (scientific or other) business processes;<BR>
** surveying, developing, and applying novel, breakthrough technologies;<BR>
** development and maintenance of applications for manufacturing & process control and laboratory automation;<BR>
** information management, databases, and office tools such as email & collaborative groupware;<BR>
** IT architecture and tools; and<BR>
** design of global networking and server infrastructure.<BR>
<BR>

Responsibilities of these positions include data analysis, software engineering, and research in disease and biochemical kinetics modeling, computational immunology, mass spectrometry- and NMR-based proteomics and metabolomics, PET and MRI image analysis, EEG signal analysis, systems biology and reverse engineering of biological networks, pattern recognition and data mining, simulation, algorithms, optimization, computational biology, knowledge representation, and web-based interface design & implementation, and related areas.<BR>
