Position</title></head><body>

<blockquote type="cite" cite><font size="-1" color="#000000"><b>A
staff research assistant postion is available. Our laboratory is
interested in understanding the differences between how normal cells
and tumor cells respond to chemotherapeutic agents. We rely on
long-term, time-lapse microscopy to study how individual cells in a
population respond to these drugs. The goal of this project is to
develop, implement, and test new software-based image analysis tools
to automate the analyses of these experiments. The primary
responsibility of the research assistant will be to carry out
biological experiments which will then be analyzed with the new
software tools. Experiments will include treatment of cells with
various chemotherapeutic drugs or small molecules, or transfection of
cells with siRNAs that inactivate potential drug targets, followed by
long-term cellular imaging. The resulting movies will be analyzed
using the newly developed software package. The research assistant
will interact with and provide feedback to the software development
group. Additional responsibilities may include construction and
analysis of new reporter proteins for use in live-cell imaging.
Furthermore, the research assistant will be responsible for lab
organizational tasks including ordering of supplies and organization
of reagent databases (expected to take 10-15% of time).</b></font><br>
