in each round will be a large indicator of how to distribute bidding

view brief faculty videos providing overviews of elective offerings,
as well as written course overviews and course evaluations.</font>
<li><font face="Arial">Course Evaluations are also available in Dewey
Library. Note that Special Seminar course numbers change each
semester.</font></ul>

color="#FF0000"><b>Bidding Basics:</b></font><br>
</blockquote>
<blockquote type="cite" cite>
<ul>
<li><font face="Arial">Every student gets 1000 points each term to bid
on classes.</font>
<li><font face="Arial">The bid point range for any subject is 1-1000
points.</font>
<li><font face="Arial">Bid now for both H1<u> and</u> H2
classes.</font>
<li><font face="Arial">The system will not allow you to bid for units
in excess of your credit limit.</font>
<li><font face="Arial">If you drop a bid at any time during an open
round, you will be refunded all points placed on that course.</font>
<li><font face="Arial">Make a printout of your bids prior to exiting
the system - this is your receipt!</font>
<li><font face="Arial">All bids are resolved simultaneously at the end
of each Round. Don't wait until the last minute to place
bids!</font>
<li><font face="Arial">Successful bids become your pre-registration
and will appear on your Registration Form.</font>
<li><font face="Arial">When finished bidding, completely log out of
the system, especially if using a lab computer!</font></ul>

color="#FF0000"><b>Sectioned Classes:</b></font><br>
</blockquote>

<li><font face="Arial">You have three choices when choosing a
sectioned class - read them carefully.</font>
<li><font face="Arial">You may bid for only one section per
class.</font>
<li><font face="Arial">The bidding system will not prevent you from
creating a conflicting schedule; review your results carefully -- you
may not have gained the section for which you bid.</font>
<li><font face="Arial">If you receive a section that you don't want,
your options are:</font></ul>

face="Arial">to drop your section and rebid on a different open
section in a subsequent round;</font></blockquote>

Restrictions:</b></font><br>
</blockquote>

<li><font face="Arial">The system will not allow you to bid on a
course restricted to students in another program.</font>
<li><font face="Arial">Prerequisites: do not waste bid points if you
don't have the necessary pre-reqs. Pre-requisites are listed in the
MIT Course Bulletin, available on https://sloanbid.mit.edu. You may
first want to email an instructor to discuss your particular
situation.</font>
<li><font face="Arial">'P' restriction requires instructor permission,
which should be obtained prior to bidding. Without instructor
approval you may be asked to leave the class, thereby wasting bid
points. Courses requiring instructor permission include:

<li><font face="Arial">After Round II bids are resolved, the system
re-opens to allow bidding only on Waitlists.</font>
<li><font face="Arial">** All students will receive an additional 1000
points in the waitlist round exclusively for Waitlist-only
bidding.</font>
<li><font face="Arial">Only courses filling in Round II will have
waitlist bidding during the waitlist-only round.</font>
<li><font face="Arial"><b>Non-credit class, 15.443, will only be
available for bidding during the waitlist-only round.</b></font>
<li><font face="Arial">Waitlists are bid upon competitively, using the
same criteria as bidding: levels of prioritization and points
bid.</font>
<li><font face="Arial">You may bid for multiple waitlists of a
sectioned course.</font>
<li><font face="Arial">The instructor or TA will email you if a seat
becomes available in a waitlisted class. You must then complete
an Add Form to formally register for the course.</font>
<li><font face="Arial"><b>There is no guarantee that seats will become
available or that an instructor will choose to use a
waitlist.</b></font></ul>

color="#FF0000"><b>Section Swaps,</b></font><font face="Arial"
color="#0000FF"><b> January 4, 9:00 a.m. - January 18, 5:00

<li><font face="Arial">Use this round if you have successfully gained
a seat in a sectioned Sloan class during bidding but would now like to
switch sections.</font>
<li><font face="Arial">Only sign up for a swap -- do not sign onto a
waitlist.</font>
<li><font face="Arial">If you are on a waitlist you do not actually
have a seat, so you cannot yet request a swap.</font>
<li><font face="Arial">You will be notified via email by 5:00 on
Wednesday, January 18 if a swap is conducted. No further
paperwork is necessary.</font></ul>
