<div><font color="#000000">Dear Students,</font><br>
<font color="#000000"></font></div>
<div><font color="#000000">We are writing to let you know about a
change in the Biology Department's policy toward accepting MIT
Biology undergraduate majors into our Graduate program. Although
in the past we have not accepted application from students that
majored Biology, we have reconsidered this policy and will now
consider such applications. Although in most instances it is
preferable for students to pursue graduate studies at another
institution, we feel that there are circumstances in which this is not
the case. We recommend that you discuss this option with your
advisor prior to applying. </font></div>
<div><font color="#000000"><br>
There is one important restriction that will be applied to students
who have majored in Biology here at MIT. If accepted, students
that have had a UROP experience in a Biology Department lab will not
be able to pursue graduate studies in the same lab. This is to
ensure that the Graduate experience is a broadening one for each
student who enters the program. </font></div>

Sincerely,<br>

Steve Bell<br>
