<blockquote type="cite" cite><font face="Times New Roman">Susan
Lindquist, Ph.D., is a Member of the Whitehead Institute for
Biomedical Research and a Professor of Biology at MIT. Widely
known for her groundbreaking work on how changes in protein
conformation affect processes such as stress tolerance,
neurodegenerative disease and heredity, her work on proteins has given
us compelling new insight into genetics, evolution and disease and has
helped provide a framework for understanding biological mysteries
including Alzheimerís, Parkinsonís and mad cow disease.<br>

</x-tab><x-tab> </x-tab>Dr.
Lindquist is the recipient of the prestigious Dickson Prize in
Medicine (2003) and the Novartis Drew Award in Biomedical Research
(2000). Among her many honors are her memberships in the
National Academy of Sciences, American Academy of Arts and Sciences,
and the American Philosophical Society. Dr. Lindquist served as
the Director of the Whitehead Institute from 2001-2004.</font><br>
