interest for employment in its Diversity Summer Internship
Program.<br>

Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) is sponsoring a
Diversity Summer Internship Program to enhance students' knowledge
of CMS programs, mission, vision and goals. Additionally, the program
seeks to familiarize participants with Federal, state and local health
care programs aiding underserved and uninsured populations. This
12-week program is offered to college/university students.<br>
</font><font face="Verdana" size="-1" color="#000000"><b>Eligibility
Criteria:<br>
</b>In order to qualify, students must meet one of the following
requirements:<br>
</font><font face="Symbol" size="-1" color="#000000">…</font><font

Asian American and Pacific Islander descent.<br>
</font><font face="Symbol" size="-1" color="#000000">…</font><font

student attending a Hispanic serving institution or of Hispanic
descent.<br>

</x-tab>A student attending a historically Black college and
university, or a Tribal college and university.<br>
Only applications from students who are U.S. citizens will be accepted
for this program. All applicants must have a GPA of at least 3.0
and a minimum of 60 credits as of May 21, 2005, in majors relating to
the health care and/or management field (e.g. computer science,
business administration, allied health, health science, accounting,
social science and/or statistics).<br>
<b>Application Process:<br>
</b>A student's application package must contain a detailed résumé
and an official transcript. Students are encouraged to complete the
Department of Health & Human Services Applicant Background Survey
and submit it with their application package.<u><i><b> Students must
also indicate on their application the date they will be available to
begin the program, if selected</b></i></u><i>. Employment site
preference(s) should be indicated on the student's resume (see options
below).</i><br>
<b>Salary and Place of Employment:<br>
</b>The salary is at the GS-4 Level, approximately $11 per hour for a
40-hour workweek. This amount may be slightly higher in some
areas due to the cost of living. <b> (FOR THE BOSTON REGIONAL
OFFICE, SALARIES START AT $12.52 PER HOUR.)</b> Interns are
responsible for their own living arrangements and transportation
costs. Employment opportunities are available at CMS sites in
Baltimore, Maryland; Washington, D.C.; Boston, Massachusetts; New York
City, New York; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Atlanta, Georgia; Chicago,
Illinois; Dallas, Texas; Kansas City, Missouri; Denver, Colorado; San
Francisco, California; Seattle, Washington; Miami, Florida; and San
Juan, Puerto Rico.<u><i><b> Employment site preference(s) should be
indicated on the student's résumé.</b></i></u><br>
