IDEAS COMPETITION</font></blockquote>
<blockquote type="cite" cite><font face="Arial" size="-1">The IDEAS
Competition encourages teams to develop and implement projects that
make a positive change in the world. Entries are judged by a panel of
experts who focus on the innovation, feasibility, and community impact
of the projects.</font></blockquote>
<blockquote type="cite" cite><font face="Arial" size="-1">The
competition is open to everyone, but at least one third of a team must
be full-time MIT students. IDEAS projects must address the needs of an
under-served community, and teams should collaborate with the
community they are serving. All types of projects, including
for-profit ventures, are encouraged as long as they fulfill these
criteria. Although many IDEAS projects have a technical focus, most
teams would welcome members with expertise in areas such as marketing,
business planning, feasibility studies, grant writing, and proposal
writing.</font></blockquote>
<blockquote type="cite" cite><font face="Arial" size="-1">Each year,
at least six teams win IDEAS awards of $2,000, $3,000, and $5,000 to
develop and implement their projects. The IDEAS staff work with teams
throughout the year to help them refine their ideas and applications.
Development grants are available to assist teams during the
application process.</font></blockquote>

MIT $50K:</font></blockquote>

pairs the world's top business, engineering, and science students
together to explore development of new companies. The MIT $50K judges
and its team of mentors have a joint goal to help MIT students learn
about entrepreneurship and start successful companies. The MIT $50K
Mentor Program matches entrant teams with successful business people
that share a common interest and have the skills, contacts or insight
to help a team with their business plan. The result is tremendous
experience for the students and a surprising number of successful
companies launched while students are completing their
